In collaboration with the Society of Professional Journalists Fort Worth Professional Chapter, we're bringing public relations professionals and journalists together for an interactive luncheon designed to help communicators sharpen their media relations skills and better understand what makes a pitch stand out.
Whether you're submitting a pitch or simply listening in, you'll gain valuable insights into what catches a reporter's attention, common pitch mistakes, and how to build stronger relationships with members of the media.
Attendees have the opportunity to submit media pitches in advance through this Google Form for consideration in our live PR Pitch Tank: SUBMIT PR PITCHES HERE. Selected participants will be notified before the event and invited to present their pitches for constructive feedback from a panel of journalists.
In addition to the Pitch Tank, this luncheon serves as our Annual Member Meeting. Chapter members are encouraged to attend and participate in a formal membership vote and approval of the proposed 2027 Board of Directors and proposed updates to our Chapter Bylaws. All chapter members in good standing are eligible to vote. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of our chapter while connecting with fellow communications professionals.

This event is proudly sponsored by Texas Tech University College of Media & Communications Graduate Studies.

What to expect:

The event will begin with networking, lunch and chapter announcements before transitioning into our annual meeting and member voting. Following chapter business, we'll move into the PR Pitch Tank, where selected pitches will be reviewed and discussed live by our journalist panel. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear firsthand what journalists are looking for, ask questions, and leave with practical strategies they can apply immediately to their media outreach efforts.

Whether you're looking to improve your pitching skills, gain an inside perspective from journalists, or participate in the governance of your professional chapter, this luncheon offers a unique opportunity to learn, engage, and connect with peers across the communications and media community.
